International archive for women in music and women composers, Archiv Frau und Musik (Frankfurt, Germany) announced via Twitter that they have collected a database of over 675 women who have written for solo guitar - a list that is sure to continue to grow! Quite exciting! The database compiled by chairwoman Heike Matthiesen, consists of some notable names in guitar repertoire such as Ida Presti, Olga Almekina-Vera, and Clarice Assad, to name a few among many others and up-and-coming female composers. It is remarkable to explore this database and see numerous guitar works written by so many women, and it is a great honor to see my own name among them.
