Classical Guitar Magazine CD Review

Classical Guitar Magazine recently reviewed classical guitarist Kristen Waligora's latest CD "In the Night's Wood", a fantastic CD that also includes my piece for solo guitar "Vincent's Night". CGM's reviewer Blair Jackson (Classical Guitar Magazine Editor, Acoustic Guitar Magazine Senior Editor, music journalist, and published author) had great things to say about her playing and the pieces she has recorded in his CD reviews for January 2020. I am proud of Kristen's accomplishments and encourage everyone (especially classical guitarists) to take a listen to her CD recordings and read the full review, but as for "Vincent's Night" I am deeply honored for what Mr. Jackson had to say:

Vincent’s Night, written by Waligora’s friend Kristina Avila, imagines what might have gone through the mind of Van Gogh when he painted his iconic “Starry Night,” but to Avila’s credit she does not dwell in some dissonant “tortured artist” trope; rather it is a quite lyrical piece, suffused with the ecstasy of the artist’s vision and, yes, glimpses of the unanswerable mysteries of his soul.

Now, for a tiny bit of bad news... Unfortunately, according to this Publisher's Note from publisher David A. Lusterman of Classical Guitar Magazine, CGM will no longer be in print as a physical, tangible, magazine (Nice timing, hah!). Though CGM printed their last magazine to end 2019, not all is lost as they will continue on as an online edition - same articles, features, ads, and more at https://classicalguitarmagazine.com/
