Many special thanks to Travis Marcum and Austin Classical Guitar for another opportunity of judging the AustinISD UIL Guitar Ensemble Competitions again. Thirty-nine ensembles comprised of students from all over the Austin school district, Odessa, and San Marcos have showcased amazing performances of skill and musicality and I’m truly honored to see all the fantastic hard work. I’m not lying when I say that a few of the performances sounded as though they were at the collegiate level and truly blew me away. This year was also very special for me considering I got to judge and work alongside dear friends and former UTB guitar major classmates: Michael Keplinger, Hector Aguilar, Sergio Hernandez, Noe Garcia, and Eduardo Lopez. Very thankful for this reunion and opportunity.
